Panic prevailed at Massanian village when 9 children, aged between 5 to 9, suddenly fell unconscious after eating some wild fruits.

All the children were rushed to a private clinic near the village, but as their condition worsened, the doctor referred them to Batala civil hospital.

Charanjeet Singh said that his daughters Anchal, 7, and Saloni, 9, were playing with other kids when they ate some wild fruits, following which all of them started vomiting.

“Seeing the deteriorating condition of other kids as well, we rushed them to a nearby private clinic, where the doctor told us that they had eaten some poisonous substance after which we took them to the civil hospital,” he added.

Dr Sanjeev Bhalla, a senior medical officer from the civil hospital, said that as many as nine kids were brought to the hospital out of which they referred one of the children, Ansh, 7, to Guru Nanak Hospital in Amritsar, after he did not respond to the treatment, while rest of the children were out of danger.
