MAN'S BODY EXHUMED AS SISTER ALLEGES MURDER

-

Two days after a man was buried in Salempur village, police dug out his remains for a post mortem when his sisters alleged that he could have been poisoned by his wife.

On Tuesday, Mehtiana police received a complaint from the family of 39-year-old Satpal, following which they exhumed the body in the presence of a duty magistrate late in the evening.

Mehtiana station house officer (SHO) Balwinder Pal said the victim’s wife had claimed that her husband was bitten by a snake. “She buried the body believing that snake bitten bodies are not cremated. The burial was done in the presence of family and villagers but later victim’s sisters raised suspicion that he could have been murdered by his wife for property,” the SHO said.

“The post mortem has been conducted but the report is awaited,” he said, adding that inquest proceedings had been initiated under Section 174 of the IPC.

The SHO said Satpal was a drug addict and indulged in drug trade.
