FEB 22: British Prime Minister David Cameron announces the Brexit referendum date as June 23, 2016. n JUNE 23:UK holds referendum on its EU membership. 51.89% of the voters opt for ‘Leave’. JUNE 24: Cameron resigns as British PM. JULY 13: Theresa May becomes the new Prime Minister.
2017
FEB 2: The UK government publishes its Brexit White Paper. JUNE 19: First round of UK-EU exit negotiations begins.
2018
NOV 13: May finalises the Brexit draft withdrawal treaty text. NOV 25: A special EU summit to be held.
DEC 13-14: The expected concluding date for an EU-UK Brexit agreement to be signed. Once formalised, it will be a matter of three months before the UK leaves the EU.
