HC upholds life term of builder, who killed man to fake his death
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court has upheld life imprisonment to a Delhi builder who to fake his death, picked up a man, killed him and put him on fire in Kurukshetra, in July 2013.
The high court bench of justice Rajiv Sharma and HS Sidhu upheld the trial court order observing that he committed murder as his business was running into losses and customers were asking for their money.
He was awarded life sentence in November 2014 by a Kurukshetra court. The accused, Rajender Kumar Batra, picked up a man from Raja Garden in Delhi in July 2013, killed him with a knife and brought him to Kurukshetra, where he poured kerosene on him and then put car on fire. The burnt car was spotted by locals.
As per the police, they found Batra at his residence, six months after the occurrence of incident on February 10, 2014.
