Jai Ram conducts aerial survey of Balh airport site
: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Friday conducted an aerial survey of the site rounded up for the construction of a proposed international airport at Balh in Mandi district along with the team of Airport Authority of India and senior officers of the state government.
The team analysed feasibility of landing of aircraft and likely obstacles in the way before preparing a detailed report. The detailed project report would be submitted to the Union ministry of civil aviation. This project will not only give a boost to tourism activities in the area but will also be of importance from a defence point of view.
LIFT FROM CART ROAD TO THE MALL INAUGURATED
The CM inaugurated a lift from the Cart Road to The Mall in Shimla on Friday, to facilitate general public and tourists. The lift was constructed at a cost of ₹6.20 crore.
Jai Ram said the lift will be carrying 26 persons and is equipped with all modern facilities, emergency alarm system, music, telephone connectivity and clock etc.
The lift, which was constructed by the department of tourism under Shimla beautification plan with funds from Asian Development Bank, is adjacent to the old one.
The CM also laid foundation stone of motorable double lane cable-stayed bridge over Beas river on Hanogi Kholanala road in Mandi district.
The 100metre long bridge will be constructed on an amount of ₹15.85 crore.
He said the bridge will be an added attraction for locals and tourists and would be the first double lane cable-stayed bridge in the state and would be completed within two years.
