Woman attempts to commit suicide after poisoning kids

BATALA: A 35-year-old woman attempted to commit suicide after poisoning her children at Gurdwara Raja Ram in Harchowal village on Tuesday. Mandeep Kaur of Marri Buchian village inhaled celphos tablets (an agricultural pesticide) following which she started vomiting. She also gave the same tablet to her two children, who started shrieking in pain soon after. They were initially taken to Bham civil hospital from where they were referred to the Batala civil hospital. Batala senior superintendent of police (SSP) Opinderjeet Singh Ghumman said the reason behind the suicide attempt is yet to be ascertained. The patients are in critical condition.
