Pro-Khalistan terror module busted; man arrested in Sirhind
CHANDIGARH : Punjab Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a pro-Khalistan module with the arrest of a man, who was involved in supplying weapons for terror activities, from Sirhind.
The accused, Mohiuddin Siddique alias Mohin Khan, is a resident of Delhi, and he was arrested from Railway Road in Hamayunpur area of Sirhind.
A police spokesperson said they had specific information that a person will visit Fatehgarh Sahib to supply weapons to someone in Sirhind.
A 38mm pistol and five rounds were recovered from him after which he was booked under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and 25/54/59 of the Arms Act.
During preliminary questioning, Khan allegedly said he had come in contact with one Harpal Singh on the social media.
Harpal used to operate a Facebook page titled ‘Khalistan Zindabad Khalistan’ and he introduced Khan to one Gurjit Singh Nijjer of Cyprus on the Facebook, police said. Nijjer asked Khan to work for Referendum 2020, claim police.
After Khan became a member of ‘Khalistan Zindabad Khalistan’, he also came into contact with some Pakistan-based agents.
“He came to Fatehgarh Sahib on the direction of Nijjer to supply weapons to contacts to execute terror activities in Punjab. On the instructions of Nijjer, Khan visited Bangalore three times to meet Harpal. Khan has admitted that he has supplied weapons to some persons in the past on the instructions of Nijjer. We are looking for the local contacts,” police said.
On December 2, Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) had arrested Harpal — a native of Mughal Majri village in Ropar district — from Pune with a pistol and five rounds. Harpal in his interrogation admitted that he had received a gun from Khan in Fatehgarh Sahib in October.
