MUKTSAR:Former chief minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) patron Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday said the disproportionate assets case filed against his close aide Dyal Singh Kolianwali is a result of political vendetta.

The bail plea of Kolianwali, an executive member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) who was booked in June this year, was rejected by the Supreme Court recently. He is absconding. Before the assembly polls, his name had cropped in the recruitment scam. He was also in the news for not paying his loans.

Addressing a gathering of party workers at Kolianwali village in Muktsar district, Badal said, “The Congress has implicated SAD leaders on several occasions to weaken the party but we have always fought these with courage. Same is in Dyal Kolianwali’s case. We are with his family. We will fight legally.”

“People should vote for Akali candidates in a befitting reply to the ruling party as they have worked very hard for development works in the villages,” he said.

On the Kartarpur corridor, Badal said chief minister Amarinder Singh should not give statements that may create a hurdle in the project.

Muktsar MLA Kanwarjeet Singh Rozy Barkandi, former Malout MLA Harpreet Singh Kotbhai and party’s Gidderbaha halqa in-charge Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon were among those present.
