No-confidence motion passed against Fatehabad zila parishad chairperson
HISAR: Members of the Fatehabad zila parishad (ZP) on Wednesday passed a no-confidence motion against the civic body’s chairperson Geeta Nangli, thereby removing her from the post.
The motion was brought as the members alleged that the chairperson’s husband, Krishan Nangli interfered in the affairs of the civic body and he even controlled the funds allocated to it for development works. They claimed that he also blocked Rs 9 crore fund , meant be used for development of villages under the zila parishad.
An official spokesperson said, “Out of 18 zila parishad members, 14 took part in the voting on the no-confidence motion. As many as 13 members voted against the chairperson and only one voted in her favour. It required 12 votes to pass the no-confidence motion.”
Notably, the state vigilance bureau (VB) had on Monday arrested two elected members of Fatehabad zila parishad, namely Mandeep Kaur and Surjeet Oadh, for accepting Rs 3.5 lakh each as bribe in lieu of not voting against Nangli. Besides Mandeep and Surjeet, the members who did not turn up for the voting were Yukti Godara and Baljeet Kaur.
The voting was conducted in the presence of Fatehabad deputy commissioner (DC) JK Abhir, who is the prescribed authority in this regard.
