EX-SECY OF CO-OP SOCIETY BOOKED FOR EMBEZZLING ₹9 LAKH
A former secretary of a cooperative society was booked her on Wednesday for allegedly embezzling ₹9 lakh in Tangra village, 25km from the district headquarters.
The accused has been identified as Tarlok Singh, who worked as secretary of Tangra village’s cooperative society.
The complaint was lodged by assistant registrar (AR) of cooperative societies of Baba Bakala sub-division to senior superintendent of police (SSP-rural) Parampal Singh in July 2017.
Police said the case has been registered after getting report from district attorney (DA-legal). The police, however, didn’t disclose the name of the complainant citing they had got the complaint on the official letter head of the AR—the complaint was without the officer’s name.
“As per the complaint, Tarlok Singh embezzled ₹9,08,056 from cash credit limits of five different members of the cooperative society,” said police.
Assistant sub inspector (ASI) Naresh Kumar, who is investigating the case, said, “After investigating the case, a case under Sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 465 (punishment for forgery), 471 (whoever fraudulently or dishonestly uses as genuine ) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused at Tarsikka police station.”
