WOMAN STABBED BY HUSBAND OVER PROPERTY

45-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife four times with a kitchen knife in Laxman Vihar on Thursday afternoon, following a dispute over the ownership of their house, the police said. According to the police, the house was built on the money of the families of both the partners and was the main bone of contention between them.

The woman’s condition is said to be stable and her statement has been recorded by police officials.

The couple had been living separately for the past three years and the incident took place on Thursday afternoon, when the woman, along with three of her relatives, went to the house to talk to her husband about the ownership of the house, said subinspect­or Mohan Kumar, who is in-charge of the Sector 4 police post.

“The woman’s mother had died earlier this month and the relatives had come to attend her post-funeral rituals . They told her to settle things with her husband as the children were getting older and need the supoort of their father,” the officer said.

The couple got into an heated argument, and the accused stabbed her with a kitchen knife, the police said. The woman was rushed to the hospital by her relatives and neighbours.

The accused was later arrested from the area. An FIR was filed under sections 323 (assault) and 324 of the Indian Penal Code(IPC), based on the victim’s statement.

The police said the accused, a lab technician, who ran a lab from where he lived in Laxman Vihar, will be produced at a city court on Friday. “The couple had a love marriage in 1998 and three years back, the man started living with another woman, according to the victim. HTC
