For 70 years, Jammu region kept bearing discrimination at the hands of political class but not anymore. We will not allow anyone to infringe upon rights of our children LAL SINGH, former BJP MLA

JAMMU : Alleging hegemony of successive Kashmir-centric regimes, former BJP MLA and minister Lal Singh on Thursday said that the leadership has worked against the interests of the Jammu region and will not be tolerated anymore.

“For 70 years, Jammu region kept bearing discrimination at the hands of political class but not anymore. We will not allow anyone to infringe upon the rights of our children,” Singh said while inaugurating the headquarters of Dogra Swabhimaan Sangathan (DSS) in the winter capital on Thursday.

Singh also felicitated his supporters, who were recently elected as panchayat members across Jammu region.

He said the region has always been discriminated in terms of business, development and jobs.

“70,000 apple-laden trucks from Kashmir were sent outside the state via Lakhanpur in Jammu without any toll tax. Whereas, the paddy farmers in Jammu were neither exempted from paying toll tax nor provided subsidy,” he said.

“Jammu doesn’t need even a single penny from Kashmir. The revenue generated from the natural resources here will not be allowed to go into the coffers of Kashmir for their development,” he added.

Launching further attack, Singh said the region has been reeling under the burden of unemployment which has spiked in the last few years.

“The candidates, for instance doctors in medical colleges, are being appointed from Kashmir in colleges based in Jammu. Will our children remain unemployed? Are they not qualified enough?,” he said.

Notably, Lal Singh and Chander Parkash Ganga, the two cabinet ministers were axed from the previous BJP-PDP government after the then CM Mehbooba Mufti had raised strong objection to their presence at Hindu Ekta Manch Rally in Hiranagar where the protesting people were demanding a CBI probe into the infamous Kathua rape and murder case.
