AAP seeks cut in electricity rates
: Threatening to launch a stir against what it claimed were sky-rocketing electricity rates in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has sought a cut in rates across the state. The party’s Majha zone president Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, who is also its MP candidate from Amritsar, said, “Delhi borrows electricity from other states and the AAP government just charge Rs 1, including taxes, for first 200 units of electricity. However, Punjab which generates electricity using its own mediums, charges Rs 9 per unit.
