BJP says TDP trying to scuttle Modi rally in Andhra
VIJAYAWADA: A senior BJP leader Friday alleged that the Telugu Desam Party led by Andhra chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu refused to give permission to use a ground in Visakhapatnam for an election meeting, to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on February 27. BJP floor leader in the Andhra assembly P Vishnukar Raju Friday told Hindustan Times that the party’s application for organising a public meeting on the Engineering College grounds of Andhra University in Visakhapatnam has been turned down by vice-chancellor G Nageswara Rao at the behest of TDP government. The BJP has been levelling similar allegations against the TMC government in West Bengal.
KATHMANDU: An unidentified group detonated three improvised explosive devices at the powerhouse of under construction Arun III Hydropower Project in Sankhuwasabha district in eastern Nepal on Thursday. The project is the country’s biggest hydro-electric plant that is being built jointly by India and Nepal. Police said three IEDs exploded on Thursday night, though no one was hurt since workers had left. Indian embassy official confirmed the blast, saying it was yet to be established who planted bomb.
