AKALIS ON A STICKY WICKET

-

Apropos ‘Why Akali Dal is angry with its oldest ally, the BJP‘(HT Page 11, Beyond the News, February 8)’, because of his own long inning in politics, Sukhbir Singh Badal must know that in politics there are no permanent friends or foes. What parties want to ensure are their permanent interests. When elections are near, power equations in politics change on a daily basis. It is possible that now the BJP finds it politically useful to befriend MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, who is now estranged with the Akali Dal, and former AAP MLA HS Phoolka. The Akali Dal is now on a sticky wicket; it has no option but to continue to stick with the BJP. Tarsem Singh, Mahilpur
