owner and the manager of Hotel Cool Breeze in Bhawanigarh town were among 27 people booked for rioting after they created a ruckus and damaged vehicles belonging to the family of a bride, who had booked the hotel for a wedding function on Sunday.

The family had complained of poor service from the hotel, leading to an argument and then the clash. The bride’s family complained that the manager called his supporters, who pelted stones at their vehicles and damaged the windows of cars and bikes of their relatives parked near the hotel.

Later, the bride’s brother Hardeep Singh filed a police complaint against the owner of the hotel, Gagandeep Singh, Shankar Dass, manager, and 25 unidentified men at Bhawanigarh police station. Police said three cars and three bikes, including a new vehicle, were damaged in the clash.

Hotel owner Gagandeep Singh denied having any role to play in the clash. “The manager entered into a clash with some people. I am not involved.”

The accused were booked under sections 341(wrongful restraint), 323 (causing hurt), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of ₹50), 148 (rioting) and 149 (unlawful assembly guilty of offence) of the IPC.
