Congress leaders put a united face in Dharamshala
DHARAMSHALA:On the final day of election canvassing, the opposition Congress managed to put a united face in Dharamshala with former minister GS Bali, who had been away from campaigning due to health reasons, leading the charge.
Former union minister Chandresh Kumari, Rajya Sabha member Viplove Thakur, former HPCC chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, former minister Thakar Singh Bharmouri, AICC secretary Rajesh Dharmani and legislators Sunder Singh Thakur and Satpal Raizada were seen accompanying him.
Bali slammed the Jai Ram Thakur-led BJP government for being ‘biased’ against the lower areas, including Kangra, Una and Hamirpur district.
“The CM should tell the public what big projects his government has sanctioned for the lower areas,” the former minister said while addressing a news conference here.
He alleged that all development works, including of educational institutions, new bus stand, Central University campus and smart city projects, have been stalled and fundstarved by the government. “They are giving priority to only one district and other areas have been completely ignored,” the Bali alleged.
He lambasted the BJP regime for failing to tackle problem of unemployment, drug trade and deteriorating law and order besides being unable to control the prices of essential commodities like onions, pulses, and petroleum products. “The cement prices have soared beyond a common man’s reach,” he added.
