Ex-armyman among 3 killed in Jhajjar mishap

HISAR : An ex-army officer commandant, his relative and a tipper driver were killed in an accident that took place on the outer road in Jhajjar on Monday night.

The deceased have been identified as commandant (retired) Suresh Phogat, his relative, who was riding pillion, Jagbir of Model Town and tripper driver Vikram of Dadri district.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 11pm when the ex-armyman’s motorcycle collided with a tipper, resulting in its driver losing control over the vehicle that rolled down a 15ft drain.

Soon after receiving the informatio­n, deputy superinten­dent of police (DSP) Shamsher Singh rushed to the accident spot and arranged a crane which was pressed into service to pull out the tipper from the drain. Body of driver was recovered from the tipper.

The police took custody of the bodies and sent them for postmortem examinatio­n at the Jhajjar general hospital. They have initiated investigat­ion into the matter. HTC
