Trident Group offers help to Punjab govt

CHANDIGARH: Ludhiana-based business giant Trident Group on Saturday took the lead among corporates to extend support to the Punjab government in its fight against Covid-19. The group has offered the government to use its establishm­ent for the people of the region in case any medical emergency due to the coronaviru­s outbreak.

In a statement, group chairman Rajinder Gupta said apart from extending support to the government, Trident will take care of 35,000 families directly and indirectly associated with the group in its plants at Barnala and Madhya Pradesh in case of emergency.

“We have hostels and other establishm­ents which we offer to the state government to use. The group was also preparing to cool off its machinerie­s and If need be, we will shut down the process in the larger interest of our employees and their families. The life and security of the workers and citizens is more important,” said Gupta.

He said there will no deduction in the salaries and wages of the workers during holidays or slowdown due to coronaviru­s.

“We will make arrangemen­ts for food also on our factory premises for all women who live alone or have meagre resources, said Gupta, adding the group has directed all its officials, especially 120 staffers, who went abroad for marketing, to selfquaran­tine.

The group has also allowed its employees to work from home, he added.

The group also extended support “Janata Curfew: call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Trident Limited is the flagship company of Trident Group, a USD 1 billion Indian business conglomera­te and a global player.
