FIR AGAINST 16 FOR BREAKING QUARANTINE

SANGRUR: As many as 16 people were booked for quarantine violations at Dirba police station on Tuesday.

The accused were isolated in a government school building at Ubhia village, 40km from Sangrur, who had returned from different states after wheat harvest season.

ASI Gurdev Singh, in-charge of Kohrian police post, said all accused were working on harvest combines and other machinery.

“Over 31 people, including workers and owners of machines, were quarantine­d on May 3. Of these, 16 went to their homes without completing the quarantine period,” he added.

The accused were booked under Sections 188, 269, 270 and 271 of the Indian Penal Code at Dirba police station.
