SAN­GRUR: As many as 16 peo­ple were booked for quar­an­tine vi­o­la­tions at Dirba po­lice sta­tion on Tues­day.

The ac­cused were iso­lated in a gov­ern­ment school build­ing at Ub­hia vil­lage, 40km from San­grur, who had re­turned from dif­fer­ent states af­ter wheat har­vest sea­son.

ASI Gur­dev Singh, in-charge of Kohrian po­lice post, said all ac­cused were work­ing on har­vest com­bines and other ma­chin­ery.

“Over 31 peo­ple, in­clud­ing work­ers and own­ers of ma­chines, were quar­an­tined on May 3. Of these, 16 went to their homes with­out com­plet­ing the quar­an­tine pe­riod,” he added.

The ac­cused were booked un­der Sec­tions 188, 269, 270 and 271 of the In­dian Pe­nal Code at Dirba po­lice sta­tion.
