MAMI: HOME THEATRE
The Jio MAMI Mumbai film festival launched Home Theatre on April 24, in response to the lockdown. They’re showing one film a week, free or at a cost of ͈55. All proceeds go to the filmmaker.
You register to access the films, just as you would for the offline festival; registration is a one-time process and is free.
The first film featured was a documentary by Tanuja Chandra called Aunty
Sudha, Aunty Radha (2019; above left), about her two aunts and their lives in a village. The next week, it was Arun Karthick's Nasir (2019; left), the tale of a small-town salesman. This week’s is Atul Mongia’s short film Awake (2018; above right). It’s the story of a couple and their relationship struggles.
