The iconic theatre in Mumbai generally screens documentaries on the last Friday of each month. In the lockdown, they’ve begun screening weekly, online, via their Facebook page, where the link to each documentary stays open for 48 hours. There’s also a weekly discussion with the director of the film.
They were off to a great start on May 1, with Manufacturing
Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media (1992) followed by a Q&A with Chomsky and director Mark Achbar.
Between Friday and Sunday, viewers can post questions; replies come in by Monday. The whole Q&A stays on the Facebook page and can be seen at any time.
This week was Narmada: A Valley Rises (1994), Ali Kazimi's documentary on the land rights movement. Kazimi will post answers to viewers’ questions by Monday evening.
