The iconic theatre in Mumbai generally screens documentar­ies on the last Friday of each month. In the lockdown, they’ve begun screening weekly, online, via their Facebook page, where the link to each documentar­y stays open for 48 hours. There’s also a weekly discussion with the director of the film.

They were off to a great start on May 1, with Manufactur­ing

Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media (1992) followed by a Q&A with Chomsky and director Mark Achbar.

Between Friday and Sunday, viewers can post questions; replies come in by Monday. The whole Q&A stays on the Facebook page and can be seen at any time.

This week was Narmada: A Valley Rises (1994), Ali Kazimi's documentar­y on the land rights movement. Kazimi will post answers to viewers’ questions by Monday evening.
