SoP flouted in testing infected health staffers
RUPNAGAR: Rupnagar health authorities have allegedly violated the standard operating protocol (SOP) by conducting second tests of some Covid-19 positive healthcare staffers at different labs.
The authorities had conducted their first test from the Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh. Their reports were received on May 10 and many employees were found positive for Covid-19.
But some employees were again tested from PGIMER, Chandigarh, and STDC/IRL by allegedly violating the SOP and were tested negative. As per protocol, if a person is tested positive for Covid-19 by a lab, his second test should be conducted at the same facility. Rupnagar DC Sonali Giri admitted that protocol was breached and said she has raised the issue with higher-ups.
