Farmer unions protest in support of health workers

SANGRUR/BATHINDA: Members of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ugrahan) on Wednesday held protests in favour of healthcare workers in Sangrur and Bhawanigarh. The farmers demanded a special package for health workers amid Covid-19 pandemic. A similar protest was held in Bathinda by members of farm unions, farm labour unions and employees’ organisations. They demanded that all contractual or outsourced employees in the health department be regularised and a life insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh be provided to every employee.
