TB MACHINE TESTS COVID QUICKER: PGI

CHANDIGARH : The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research started using its tuberculosis machine- GeneXpert-for quicker diagnosis of Covid on Wednesday. The GeneXpert was launched in PGI in 2016 to diagnose multi-drug-resistent tuberculosis for speedy detection. Dr Arunaloke Chakrabarti, head, medical microbiology, said, “The GeneXpert testing is very quick. We get results within 45 minutes and hand over report to patient in an hour.” HTC
