Punjab schools taking online classes can charge only tuition fee
FEE FOR ADMISSION, UNIFORM CANNOT BE CHARGED FROM STUDENTS: MINISTER
CHANDIGARH/PATIALA: Schools in Punjab taking online classes can charge only tuition fee from students during the lockdown period, said school education minister Vijay Inder Singla on Thursday.
The minister said fees for admission, uniform or any other charges in any form cannot be charged from students. “School managements should also refrain from increasing the fee or any other charges during academic session 2020-21 in view of the nationwide lockdown,” he said in a statement.
The minister also said no school can expel any student if he fails to pay tuition fees in time or gets it delayed due to any reason. The minister also instructed that schools can neither stop nor reduce the salaries of their teachers and other employees under any circumstances.
ORDER ON OPENING GOVT SCHOOLS AFTER MAY 17
A decision to open schools will be taken after May 17, the last day of the nationwide lockdown for the Covid-19 pandemic, Singla said.
The higher education department had, however, declared that colleges and universities would be closed up to June 15.
