Motorcycle-borne men gun down Ludhiana shop owner

LUDHIANA: Two motorcycle-borne men shot dead a mobile phone shop owner, Girish Manocha, 29, and critically injured his father, Joginderpa­l Manocha, 60, at their house in Janta Colony on Rahon Road on Wednesday night.

FATHER INJURED

Joginderpa­l took a bullet to his neck and is undergoing treatment at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, where his condition is stated to be critical.

FATHER’S COUSIN BOOKED

As per informatio­n, Joginderpa­l’s cousin Rajinder was behind the attack. A monetary dispute is said to be the reason behind the crime. Police say the accused, who is now on the run, had allegedly hired contract killers and instructed them to kill Joginderpa­l and both his sons Girish Manocha and Munish Manocha.

As per informatio­n, two masked men knocked on their door on late Wednesday night. As soon as Joginderpa­l opened the door, the accused opened fire on him.He took two bullets and fell down on the floor. Girish, who was standing behind his father, tried to run to his room but the assailants shot him on his back. He succumbed to the bullet wounds at the hospital. Girish had got married only six months ago. Munish, who was in his room at the time, luckily escaped unhurt. Assistant commission­er of police (ACP, North) Gurbinder Singh said that while fleeing, the assailants made a WhatsApp call to Rajinder. Police have booked the accused and the two assailants for murder.
