DeIish celeb: Your favourite stars as food, anyone?

- Naina Arora naina.arora@htdigital.in

Seen the late Bollywood actor Madhubala as a Black Forest cake or pop singer Rihanna as Tandoori Chicken? Twitter is a funny place with infinite number of trends and memes. One such food trend that has gone viral recently is where celebs or rather, their attires get compared to food dishes. One of the threads see Rihanna’s red eek party dress mpared to a red sharbat and Chicken Tandoori. Appreciative or questionable?

“It’s possibly a bit of a lighthearted distraction from the serious situation around us,” opines food writer Kalyan Karmakar, adding, “It’s been over a month-and-a-half into the lockdown. And people are getting bored at home.”

Twitterati is amused with the photos and how. While some like Neeru @galekafanda, say she “kept looking at the food the whole time”, Arjav

Mehta, @arjavmehta98, commenting on the Madhubala food thread, says, “Two most beautiful things put together in a thread”.

Such comparisons have taken place in the past, too. Remember Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ 2017 Met Gala look compared to malai on a cup of chai. “One could say that somebody is creative enough to compare dresses with Indian food dishes. But it might offend someone. I find it funny,” says chef Manish Mehrotra.
