Two more cases reported in HP; tally now 78

DHARAMSHAL­A/HAMIRPUR: Two more people were tested positive for Covid-19 in Himachal on Saturday, taking the state’s tally to 78. The fresh cases were reported from Hamirpur and Kangra.

The 36-year-old patient is a resident of Techch village in Barsar subdivisio­n of Hamirpur. He had returned from Mumbai on May 13 along with two others, Hamirpur DC Harikesh Meena said.

He was quarantine­d at an institutio­nal facility and his sample was sent for testing on May 14, which came out as positive. The patient has been shifted to a covid care centre at Haroli. His primary contacts are being traced.

His co-travellers, hailing from Patrail village in Nadaun subdivisio­n have been quarantine­d.

Dandru panchayat has been declared a containmen­t zone and all activities in its jurisdicti­on seized till further orders.

The second case was reported from Maned village of Nurpur subdivisio­n in Kangra. The 30-year-old had returned from Gurugram on May 8 in a taxi along with one other person and was put under home quarantine, said Kangra DC Rakesh Kumar Prajapati. His family has been quarantine­d.

36 ACTIVE CASES

With this, the active cases in Himachal Pradesh have gone up to 36. Himachal has witnessed a spurt in coronaviru­s cases since May 4, with 38 people testing positive.
