AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Saturday decided to move the Supreme Court seeking management of the historic Gurdwara Mangu Mutt at Puri in Odisha.

The decision was taken during a video conference of the subcommittee constituted by the SGPC on the issue. The meeting was attended by SGPC functionaries, Sikh leaders of Odisha and senior lawyer Birjinder Singh.

The lawyer was asked to file a petition in this regard in the apex court.

Besides, it was decided that the SGPC would continue its efforts to take up the matter with the governments concerned.

Notably, a row over the gurdwara erupted after many of the structures situated on its premises were demolished in December last year.

Since then, the Sikh community has been demanding that its management be handed over to the SGPC.
