Farmers oppose new discharge policy for Covid patients
SANGRUR: Members of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ugrahan), along with labourers and students, staged protest outside the district administration complex to oppose government’s new discharge policy for Covid-19 patients. The protesters sent a memorandum to the PM and Punjab CM through Sangrur DC. They alleged that coronavirus positive patients are being discharged from covid care centres across state, causing panic among residents. “Government is escaping from its responsibility and coronavirus positive patients are being sent home. We will continue the protest till government stops this,” said Jagtar Singh Kalajhar, spokesperson, BKU (Ugrahan). Sangrur DC Ghanshyam Thori said following government’s guidelines, asymptomatic patients have been discharged after 14-day isolation.
