Govt to consider framing guidelines for film-making

NEW DELHI: The Informatio­n and Broadcasti­ng ministry is considerin­g coming out with guidelines with filmmaking in the time of social distancing as it has received representa­tions from the sector that has faced the brunt of the Covid-19 pandemic with a lot of activity curtailed.

According to a government official, the ministry has received requests regarding the difficulti­es that the cinema industry has faced and is considerin­g ways to find a solution. “The ministry has received representa­tions from different quarters and is considerin­g. It is being looked at if guidelines can be framed,” said the official adding that even if any such norms are released, they would be subject to the local pandemic situation.

“There have been meetings on the issue and the ministry is also in touch with representa­tives of the entertainm­ent and the film industry,” said the official cited above. A large part of the entertainm­ent industry is centered in Mumbai, which as a city has been severely impacted by the onslaught of the Covid-19.
