GUARD AGAINST MONOPOLY

The government has coined the slogan, ‘be vocal, for local’ to encourage purchase of goods manufactured by Indian companies. However, if local companies take reins of the market, there will be few players left and these players may form cartels and jack up prices. The government should take proactive measures to deter formation of cartels so that quality doesn’t suffer.
