‘Mindfulness is key’
Quarantining in London with her husband and four-year-old daughter Samaya, singer-actor Raageshwari Loomba Swaroop is of the view that mindfulness is vital to stay calm, as she believes everything is connected to “our thought patterns”. And it is this very thought that gave birth to her book on mindful parenting, Building a Happy Family.
“Samaya is hyper active, so we make her do a workout dance class, some jumping classes; we give up but she is unstoppable,” says
Raageshwari, who is married to lawyer Sudhanshu Swaroop.
The actor recalls how she was “e-introduced” to her now husband by his sister, and hence, doesn’t judge people who are tying the knot virtually amid the lockdown. “I am on board any platform to find love, virtual or otherwise, as long as one shows their authentic self. I found comfort in communicating with Sudhanshu via email...It’s only through letters we grew, since we met only after six months of writing letters. And by God’s grace, it seemed like a blessing from the word go,” she shares.
A mother herself, Raageshwari, 44, feels parents need to mould their children very early on in life. With respect to the recent Bois Locker Room incident, she feels equality and communication at home are essential. “Until we walk the path of equality and respect ourselves, we cannot expect our next generation to follow,” she signs off.
