SAD SEEKS PROBE INTO SEED SCAM

-

CHANDIGARH : The Shiromani Akali Dal, on Saturday, demanded an independent inquiry by a central agency into the alleged multi-crore seed scam under which breeder seeds of paddy, still not approved for sale, were ‘manufactured’ by a close aide of Punjab jails minister Sukhjinder Randhawa and sold to farmers at high rates. Bikram Singh Majithia alleged that despite an FIR in the case by the state agriculture department on May 11, no action had been taken against manufacturer Lucky Dhillon. He demanded arrest of Dhillon, dismissal of the seed inspector, and action against PAU, Ludhiana officials who released the breeder seed for multiplication.
