JAMMU:: A 14-year-old boy, who was missing since May 20, was found murdered in Old Satwari area of Jammu city on Sunday, police said. The deceased was identified as Ritik Kumar, son of Pawan Kumar.

A police official said sniffer dogs were used to trace Ritik’s body, which was found from a vacant plot in the area.

“The assailants had poured acid on the boy’s face to hide his identity. As the body was mutilated, he was identified by his clothes and slippers, “he said.

The victim’s family had lodged a missing complaint with Chatha police post on May 21.

Superintendent of police Deepak Dhingra said a FSL team has taken samples from the crime scene and the body was sent for postmortem. “Police have detained some suspects, including the one to whom Ritik allegedly owed some money over betting,” the SP said.

Sources said the boy with whom Ritik last talked on May 20, had been betting over online games on mobile phone. They said Ritik, who had lost bets, owed him some money.
