KARNAL: Haryana chief minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday hinted that more relaxations with limitations might be given to the private sector, especially industries, hotels and restaurants, in the state June 1 onwards.

“Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst should be our mantra to deal with any situation arising in the future,” he said, adding, “Nothing can be predicted about the next few months. The pandemic has taught us a lot. We should be ready to make lifestyle changes to move forward.”

Khattar said about 28 lakh people working in the private sector have returned to their jobs. “Hotels and eateries have been allowed to resume home delivery. More relaxations could be in the offing after reviewing the situation by May 31,” he added.

He said the number of Covid infected persons rose to 1,200 in the state, but situation in Haryana was far better than neighbouring states. “When we took measures earlier, Delhi objected, but now the situation is under control,” Khattar said.

On the issue of private school fees, the CM said it was their only source of income and they needed to meet expenses, pay salaries. He also admitted the delay in payment to farmers due to change in the system, but said dues would soon be cleared. About movement of migrant labourers, he said state government had provided all support.

On alleged atrocities on Hindus in Nuh, the CM said, “The matter was brought to my knowledge by Vishva Hindu Parishad. The situation is being monitored by the local police and action will be taken against the guilty.”
