3 cases in Bapu Dham take city tally to 282

CHANDI­GARH: Three fresh Covid-19 cases were re­ported in Bapu Dham Colony, tak­ing its to­tal tally to 209 and that of Chandi­garh’s to 282 on Wed­nes­day.

Those in­fected in­clude two men, aged 20 and 32, of the same house­hold. The third case is that of an 18-year-old youth. Ac­cord­ing to of­fi­cials, all are con­tacts of pre­vi­ous pos­i­tive cases.

Chandi­garh now has 91 ac­tive cases, of which 89 are from Bapu Dham Colony.


The colony ac­counts for 74% of the to­tal cases and 98% of the ac­tive. In fact af­ter a change in test­ing strat­egy from May 23, this con­tain­ment zone in Sec­tor 26 has recorded 62 of its 206 cases within just five days. The first case in Chandi­garh was recorded on March 18 and Bapu Dham re­ported its first in­fec­tion on April 24, when a health worker was found pos­i­tive.

Mean­while, 46 peo­ple who upon re­cov­er­ing were moved to the post-dis­charge quar­an­tine cen­tre at Sood Dharamshal­a, Sec­tor 22, were sent home on Wed­nes­day..
