‘IT WILL NOT BE BUSINESS AS USUAL’
Asserting that the pandemic has unified the citizens of India, actor Dia Mirza is all praise for the society which, she feels, has taken the Covid-19 crisis head-on.
“It’s amazing to see people from the civil society coming forward to help. I am very optimistic. I think it is going to translate into extremely productive actions and it is already happening,” says the actor, who is also a United Nations missionary.
She, however, outlines gaps in responses by the authorities. “I have spoken to doctors, bureaucrats and municipal workers as we have been coordinating a lot in our area. Everybody is resolved to fix things. One of the biggest failures is the way we have (been) governed (and) in my opinion, there is little or no coordination between agencies,” she shares.
Mirza, 38, believes the crisis will change people’s outlook towards nature. “It won’t be business as usual. I feel sustainable development goals and the Paris agreement will be the roadmaps for the world to follow. We should be able to heal, recover and progress in a wonderful way,” she concludes.
