Transporters demand relief package, resumption of commercial vehicles
JAMMU: Upset over no relief package to transporters, delay in resuming commercial transport and demanding 50% hike in fare, the All Jammu and Kashmir Transport Welfare Association on Saturday served a three-day ultimatum to the administration to respond to their demands or face agitation across the UT. The association said they too can carry out operations with 50% occupancy and while maintaining social distancing. Association chairman TS Wazir said all commercial vehicles stopped plying roads since March 15. “Government has announced relief packages for all the sectors but we are left high and dry,” he said.
