E-CONCERTS WILL BECOME A THING, GET BIGGER: SACHIN

- Samarth Goyal

With Covid-19 lockdown putting concerts and film music on hold, Sachin Sanghvi, of the music composer duo Sachin-Jigar, is using this free time to enter the non-film music space.

“Up until now, all our time was spent in making music for Bollywood. We wanted to release independent music, but never really got time. With no film music, people are realising the importance of independent music now. Not just listeners, but even artistes themselves are realising its importance,” he says. On how, amid the lockdown, the music industry is becoming “atmanirbhar”, Sanghvi says, “The self-worth existed before as well, but now more musicians have realised that they are on their own and can survive.” On production and consumption of music in current situation, he says, “The manner of consumption will change; e-concerts will become a thing and will get even bigger.”
