1,600 migrant workers leave for Chhattisgarh
GURDASPUR: Around 1,600 migrant labourers stranded here due to the lockdown left for Chhattisgarh in a special train from city railway station on Sunday. This was the third train to ferry migrants from Gurdaspur to their home states. Deputy commissioner Mohammad Ishfaq said the state government is bearing all the travel expenses, besides providing migrants free accommodation and food during their stay here. Meanwhile, some labourers said they were leaving Punjab under pressing conditions, but will come back in the future.
