Probe ordered into cooperative bank scam
CHANDIGARH: Punjab cooperation minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, on Tuesday, ordered a probe into the alleged bungling at Tarsikka Cooperative Bank and five societies under its jurisdiction. The probe will be carried out by a team of senior auditors of other societies and officers of the department. The minister ordered the probe during a meeting with registrar (cooperative societies) Vikas Garg and Punjab State Cooperative Bank MD Varun Roojam. He said he was informed that a scam is underway at five cooperative societies - Tarsikka, Saidoke Lehal, Bhattike, Chugawan Sadhpur and Kohala - from financial year 2012-13. Roojam was sent to conduct a preliminary probe which led to unearthing of the scam.
