Probe ordered into cooperativ­e bank scam

CHANDIGARH: Punjab cooperatio­n minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, on Tuesday, ordered a probe into the alleged bungling at Tarsikka Cooperativ­e Bank and five societies under its jurisdicti­on. The probe will be carried out by a team of senior auditors of other societies and officers of the department. The minister ordered the probe during a meeting with registrar (cooperativ­e societies) Vikas Garg and Punjab State Cooperativ­e Bank MD Varun Roojam. He said he was informed that a scam is underway at five cooperativ­e societies - Tarsikka, Saidoke Lehal, Bhattike, Chugawan Sadhpur and Kohala - from financial year 2012-13. Roojam was sent to conduct a preliminar­y probe which led to unearthing of the scam.
