‘FEEL HELPLESS LOOKING AT THE CONDITION OF MIGRANTS’

- Sangeeta Yadav

Actor Harshvardhan Rane believes in looking at the brighter side of things. But thinking about the plight of migrant workers amid the lockdown, walking miles to reach their villages, makes his heart sink. Though there is some respite after railways began operations in some cities, Rane, 36, feels that this could have been arranged much before to prevent such a crisis. “I feel low and helpless when I see their news. We’re sitting in the comforts of our home, but these guys are struggling to get water and food, and just want to reach their homes. It’s just sad to see people suffer like that. I wish I had some superpower to help them,” the actor says.

Keeping himself busy by working on his mental, intellectual and physical wellbeing, the actor feels like he is “a better version” of himself now. “This lockdown has been like a software update for me. It’s a great time to reset and update yourself. Mind, body and knowledge are the main areas I’m focusing on. I’ve started running 10km in my building’s parking space. I practise cognitive ability games to sharpen my mind,” he says. Rane has also enrolled in an online course on human evolution and is reading books “to understand what inspires people and their journey from being nowhere to somewhere”.
