Man held with heroin in Ferozepur

BATHINDA: In a joint operation with the Punjab police, the Border Security Forces seized 880-gram heroin near the International Border in Ferozepur district on Wednesday. A spokesperson of Ferozepur district police said the sleuths arrested Mangal Singh of Hithaad village on the charges of smuggling of drugs. The accused is stated to have received the contraband consignment from his contact in Pakistan. Following a tip-off, the team raided the area and also recovered Rs 6.75 lakh near Shameke post on India-Pakistan border. The accused is being questioned and a case under NDSP has been registered against him under the NDPS Act.
