AMBALA MAN ARRESTED IN DRUGS CASE COMMITS SUICIDE IN POLICE CUSTODY
AMBALA: A 40-year-old man, arrested in a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) case, allegedly committed suicide in the custody of the crime investigation agency in the wee hours of Sunday. An inquiry has been initiated and his postmortem will be conducted in the presence of a judicial magistrate, said Abhishek Jorwal, superintendent of police, Ambala Cantonment. More than 25 cases of drug peddling, theft and robbery were registered against the man. He had attempted suicide in the lock-up earlier too, said deputy superintendent of police Sultan Singh. “He was a notorious criminal and had attempted to commit suicide twice inside lock-up. Due to his past history, he was watched carefully, but he still committed suicide,” said the DSP.
