All you need to know to detox the right way
The lockdown has increased our intake of junk food and affected our daily workout regimes. However, as we enter unlock 1.0, it is time for a detox. A detox diet is very high in minerals, vitamins, antioxidants etc., and quite low on calories, protein, fats and carbohydrates. Experts recommend following this plan once every four to six weeks.
Start the day with lemon n juice in warm water. Have a minimum of three litres of water and 1-1.5 litres of other fluids such as green tea and coconut water.
Do not skip meals. Have salads or soups, but avoid dressings. Have three servings of fruits and five servings of vegetables such as spinach, carrot, garlic, onion and cucumber. Follow lunch with a cup of tea. Go for green/herbal tea rather than the caffeinated one. Use almond milk instead of regular milk. Have a glass of vegetable juice, including beets, bottle gourd, pumpkin, ginger and mint.
Do light exercise to keep blood flow consistent. (With inputs from dietician Shikha Mahajan and nutritionist Avni Kaul)
