‘DON’T GO EASY ON VIOLATORS’

CHANDIGARH: Considerin­g the emerging threat of Covid-19, health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Friday instructed civil surgeons to speed up challaning of violators to ensure stringent compliance of guidelines in public places, markets and vegetable markets of urban areas.

The minister told civil surgeons to immediatel­y file latest report giving details of containmen­t zones to the headquarte­rs for swift planning of action plan.

The department is also working on a preparedne­ss plan for five worst-hit cities of Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Mohali.

23 FEROZEPUR ZILA PARISHAD STAFFERS HOME QUARANTINE­D

Twenty-three employees of the Ferozepur zila parishad have been home quarantine­d after additional deputy commission­er (developmen­t) Ravinder Pal Singh tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.

Ferozepur ADC (general) Ravinder Singh said tracing of other possible infected persons is still on.

Prior to his test, the official was dischargin­g duties at his zila parishad complex office, including distributi­ng cheques among the beneficiar­ies of various government welfare schemes and meeting public.
