392 SIM CARDS DEACTIVATE­D IN HARYANA

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Police on Saturday said it has got 392 SIM cards that issued on forged documents deactivate­d between May 12 and June 15, in view of the rise in online frauds using such cards.

Additional director general of police (law and order), Navdeep Singh Virk, said a probe by cyber crime unit led to identifica­tion of 685 mobile SIMs issued on fake and forged documents by the mobile service providers.

The department of telecommun­ications was approached as a result of which 392 mobile numbers have been deactivate­d by the service providers, he said.
