392 SIM CARDS DE­AC­TI­VATED IN HARYANA

CHANDI­GARH: The Haryana Police on Saturday said it has got 392 SIM cards that is­sued on forged doc­u­ments de­ac­ti­vated be­tween May 12 and June 15, in view of the rise in on­line frauds us­ing such cards.

Ad­di­tional di­rec­tor gen­eral of police (law and or­der), Navdeep Singh Virk, said a probe by cy­ber crime unit led to iden­ti­fi­ca­tion of 685 mo­bile SIMs is­sued on fake and forged doc­u­ments by the mo­bile ser­vice providers.

The de­part­ment of telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions was ap­proached as a re­sult of which 392 mo­bile num­bers have been de­ac­ti­vated by the ser­vice providers, he said.
