Meal-time in­no­va­tions were onepot meals – for ex­am­ple, a an egg-sausage muf­fin done in a tray or a sim­ple tehri (a rice and veg­etable dish) in a saucepan or pres­sure­cooker -- to save on wash­ing up and the imag­i­na­tive re­cy­cling of leftovers such as roast / fried chicken had at din­ner-time shred­ded to go in be­tween a break­fast sand­wich or a roll; mashed potato as the burger patty; spiced pud­ding or kheer with left­over rice.
